Strictly Come Dancing fans issue complaint after Sarah Hadland's 'iconic' performance
Some Strictly Come Dancing viewers weren't impressed in the wake of Sarah Hadland and Vito Coppola's latest routine after the judges gave their scores for the performance
by Joel Leaver · The MirrorViewers complained on social media this weekend following Sarah Hadland's latest performance on Strictly Come Dancing which was met with praise from the judges.
Sarah, 53, and her dance partner Vito Coppola, 32, performed a Cha-Cha-Cha to Madonna's Like a Prayer for Icons Week on the BBC show on Saturday night. The routine was applauded and the pair were awarded a score of 37 for it.
Some fans however weren't impressed that the couple only received a 10 from Anton Du Beke, 58. Viewers shared their thoughts on X, formerly known as Twitter, and several took issue with the score from the judges.
One fan wrote in a tweet: "37 for that dance is an absolute outrage! Sarah & Vito deserve all the 10s!" Another said: "Don't get how based on the comments there were not more 10's then for Sarah." A third wrote: "Sarah underscored as well. What is with the judges this week?!"
Sharing their thoughts, someone else said: "That was different class from Sarah and Vito ... it was awesometastic. Vito is adorable. Should've had more 10s though." Another fan commented after the scores were revealed: "Deserved 4 tens, Vito really pushed Sarah this week and they were amazing."
There had been calls for the pair to receive a perfect score even before the feedback. One fan had written: "Sarah and Vito deserve a perfect score for that, if it’s not a 40 I will be having words Craig." Another said: "If the judges are speechless and have NOTHING bad to say, surely this has to be a TEN for Sara and Vito's Cha Cha Cha."
Not everyone felt the same though, with some fans suggesting that the score was fair. One fan wrote: "That's a great score for Sarah and Vito." Another said: "They deserved those scores, Sarah and Vito." A third said: "Utterly brilliant, well worth the score." Whilst one viewer tweeted: "Never a 10 for Sarah. Love Anton as a judge but he's the worst for overmarking."
The four judges had given Sarah and Vito primarily positive feedback after the routine on Saturday night. Motsi Mabuse, 43, told the pair that the performance was "iconic" and that she "loved it". Shirley Ballas, 64, said: "Everything that you have, I like. You're getting there and the only thing I want you to add next time is the fluidity and the flexibility of the body."
Anton - who was the only judge to score them a 10, rather than a 9 - said that he was "speechless" and then described the performance as "brilliant". Whilst Craig Revel Horwood, 59, said that it was a "powerhouse performance".
