After a long day, knowing you have a delicious dinner to look forward to can make all the difference.

But you don’t need to look for a complicated recipe – there are plenty of simple ways you can deliver big on flavour without the fuss. Jamie Oliver, the beloved celebrity chef, is known for his quick and easy meals. A perfect example is his crispy garlicky chicken, a simple yet flavourful dish that requires only five ingredients and takes less than 15 minutes to prepare. It's perfect for those busy weekdays when you want something comforting without the stress, this recipe is ideal.

On his website, Jamie shared: "Super-simple to put together, this is a great, fast method for really good, crispy crumbed chicken, and I've added garlic for extra flavour. Pounding the chicken, both before adding the crumbs and to help them to stick, tenderises the meat and makes it even quicker to cook."

Here’s how to make Jamie Oliver's crispy garlicky chicken.

Jamie Oliver's crispy garlic chicken

Ingredients:

  • Two chicken breasts (120g each)
  • Two thick slices of wholemeal bread (75g each)
  • One clove of garlic
  • One lemon
  • 50g of rocket leaves

Required kitchen equipment:

  • Frying pan
  • Greaseproof baking paper
  • Food processor

Method:

  • Start by placing the chicken breasts between two large sheets of baking paper. Use the base of a frying pan or a rolling pin to flatten them.
  • Tear the bread into pieces and put it in a food processor, then chop the garlic and add it too.
  • Pulse the bread and garlic until you have fine breadcrumbs, then spread the breadcrumbs over the chicken.
  • Cover the breadcrumb-coated chicken with another sheet of baking paper and pound them to embed the crumbs into the meat.
  • Heat a frying pan over medium heat and cook the chicken for three minutes on each side until it's crispy, golden brown and thoroughly cooked.
  • Drizzle the lemon juice over the rocket leaves. Once the chicken is perfectly cooked, slice it and arrange it on a plate with the zesty rocket, and serve.
