Coleen Rooney 'delayed I'm A Celebrity departure to spend final night with Wayne'

Coleen Rooney spent a final night with husband Wayne before leaving her family to travel to Australia to take part in I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!

The 38-year-old mum-of-four has been married to football star Wayne, 39, since 2008 and together they are proud parents to sons Kai, 14, Klay, 10, Kit, eight, and Cass, five. But Coleen won't be able to see her loved ones for weeks as she is jetting Down Under to take part in the 2024 season of I'm A Celeb.

She was uncovered as one of the stars taking part in ITV's long-running celebrity popularity contest - and has reportedly been flown to Australia First Class via Emirates while being chaperoned by a junior member of ITV for the trip. But before she flew, Coleen is said to have spent a final night with hubby Wayne.

Her personal life arrangements have meant she is arriving in Australia behind the rest of the rumoured 2024 cast. Other stars - including McFly's Danny Jones, former Love Island contestant Maura Higgins and singer Tulisa Contostavlos have already made the long trip to Australia ahead of the show beginning this weekend.

The MailOnline reports that Coleen and Wayne went to considerable lengths to ensure they had time together before she left the UK. They reported: "Wayne was managing Plymouth in Derby, an hour and a half away from where they live, but drove home on Saturday night to see Coleen off. The football manager spent the day with Coleen and now is on an international break for a week or so, which means he can be there for [their] sons."

It was also noted that Coleen appeared at the airport on Monday to begin her travels wearing a £1000 Toteme pyjamas. The WAG is also keeping her family close to her during her time abroad, as fans noticed she was wearing a necklace containing her children's names.

Over the weekend, Coleen spent some of her final hours in the UK before her jungle stint dashing around the Hoopers Department Store in Wilmslow, Cheshire - with shopping bags in her hands. She looked very relaxed in a hooded jumper and simple black leggings and with her hair tied back in a tight, no nonsense bun, as she went about her afternoon of shopping. And she will certainly have more money to spend on treats for herself once she returns from her I'm A Celebrity stint.

Fans of I'm A Celeb were stunned to learn last month that Coleen was taking part - with her paycheque expected to be a record amount in excess of £1.5 million. But former I'm A Celeb star Kim Woodburn has suggested Coleen won't be worth the money - or the viewing time - as it has been reported she will sit out some trials on medical grounds.

Lashing out at the star, Kim told The Sun: "Coleen Rooney will not be able to do many trials because she has a form of arthritis, which sad as it is. We know, we know it's sad, so I think she'll be very limited to what she can do." But the former campmate then asked: "Then, why are they still taking her in there?"

Fearing the star will make for a dull contestant, Kim said: "I don't want to watch Coleen." And she added: "I don't dislike the girl at all, but you don't take somebody in there to sit on that long all the time eating rice... If that's how they're going to form the show, it will be like watching paint dry."
