Chloe Madeley has finally revealed the real reason behind her split from husband James Haskell, as she described the exact moment she knew her relationship was over in a new video. The 37 year old fitness guru and former rugby player, James, 39, officially parted ways last October after five years of marriage and over a decade of dating.

Appearing on the latest episode of Olivia Attwood ’s So Wrong It’s Right podcast, Chloe finally felt comfortable enough to discuss the breakdown of her marriage, including what had prompted her to call time on such an enduring romance.

She shared: “I'm one of those people that needs structure and routine. My ex, and I, I think, one of the reasons things became so hard for us was because he thrives in chaos. His schedule, I don't even remember when he was in England for a full week. He's all over the place and I just can't do that. Can't live like that.”

“I think I knew that I was really unhappy,' she added. “And I think he knew that he was really unhappy too. But I don't think either of us ever would have predicted that we were going to break up. Ever.”

Pinpointing a specific time in which she realised things were irreconcilable, Chloe explained: “I swear to God it was just like one day, I remember exactly where we were - I remember the day, the time, the temperature, the outfit, everything - I just remember like just saying it, "I don't think that we should do this any more", but really meaning it and it kind of went from there.

“It doesn't just happen - it didn't for us anyway. It was farmed up as time passed, and it's still like that now.”

Chloe, who is the daughter of TV legends Richard Madeley and Judy Finnigan, also went on to admit that she could “never” have predicted their break-up or foreseen it ending the way it had done.

She also revealed that the couple had now been separated for around a year, after initially discussing parting ways in August. Insisting that she couldn’t put a specific date on the split, Chloe elaborated that the pair had slowly grown apart over several months before realising “nobody’s fighting for this.”

Although the split was ultimately the best decision for the former lovers, separation has been far from easy, with the couple experiencing a tough transition to co-parenting their daughter Bodhi, 2.

According to the star, things had been a little ‘ weird ’ as they ran into each other at events, with Chloe explaining that she “kind of relived it sometimes” as she struggled to separate the present from the fact they had previously been together for 11 years.

However, despite some initial awkwardness, she remains firmly hopeful that she and James can go on to build a stable happy friendship, with the duo regularly meeting up while raising Bodhi amicably.
