ITV I'm A Celebrity's brutal first challenge revealed after huge switch-up

I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here released details of the first challenge of the series after removing the plank challenge from previous shows - and it's more brutal than before

ITV has finally released details of the first I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here challenge of the series and the celebrities are certainly not in for a treat.

Swapping the plank challenge, which showed celebrities face their fear of heights, the chosen few are now tasked with embarking on a race in order to be crowned leaders of the camp. The ITV show opens with Strictly star Oti Mabuse, N-Dubz singer Tulisa Contostavlos, presenter Dean McCullough, Loose Women's Jane Moore and McFly star Danny Jones, at a luxury villa.

Waiting poolside, the celebrities greet each other warmly until the hear the sound of helicopters. Above their heads are five choppers, one of which has hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly And it's at this point the Geordie duo explain to the nervous celebs that they have one helicopter each and they will also be required to use a parachute, as they are about to go skydiving.

But before they jump in their choppers, they are told to drink a disgusting cocktail, fitting for a Bushtucker trial, in order to see who will skydive first. First to finish his drink was Danny, followed by Tulisa, then Jane, Dean and lastly Oti. The hosts then reveal that once they land on a nearby beach, they will meet the other celebrities - social media star GK Barry, former boxer Barry McGuigan, Coronation Street star Alan Halsall, WAG Coleen Rooney and presenter Melvin.

Once the two groups meet, they then have to choose who to pair up with. Danny and Barry immediately team up and are labelled Team Orange. Tulisa and Alan pair up and are Team Red. This is followed by Jane and GK who are Team Green. Dean and Coleen are Team Yellow and Oti and Melvin are Team Pink.

The incentive behind coming first in the race is that the winning pair will be allowed to stay in Leader's Lodge and revel in the perks of being winners. One the two groups meet, they are faced with a sign post by the river that read, Release A Boat To Continue The Race - but they need a key to unlock the boat.

Once unlocked they can then start to row their boat to the next challenge. But it wouldn't be I'm A Celeb without a nasty turn, as they soon find out that their boats are filling with water. So who will make it to camp first and be crowned camp leaders?
