MInecraft Tiny Takeover update arrives this week, Chaos Cubed coming later
Minecraft detailed its next two updates, the first of which is really gosh-darned cute.
by Ozzie Mejia · ShacknewsThere was plenty of Minecraft news to go around during Saturday's Minecraft Live March 2026 showcase. The next big update is coming early next week, offering something big in a tiny package. Tiny Takeover will feature redesigns for all of Minecraft's littlest creations. However, that's just the beginning. Later this year, things explode with the upcoming Chaos Cubed update.
New details of the next Minecraft updates came during the Minecraft LIVE: March 2026 presentation. Revealed earlier this month, Tiny Takeover focuses on Minecraft's baby mobs. That means all baby farm mobs, mounts, enemies, and villagers have all been redesigned to look their cutest. They've also had their sound effects reworked, so they'll sound just like how they look.
Don't you just wish they could stay that age forever? Well, with the golden dandelion, they can. Simply craft it with eight gold nuggets and a dandelion and this new item will keep any baby mob their current age forever. If that sounds torturous and like an abomination against nature, a second golden dandelion will undo the effect. Don't lose track of who's who, since little rascals like to run around everywhere, and use the new craftable name tag feature. Name tags can now be crafted with any metal nugget.
There aren't too many details about Minecraft's next major update, titled Chaos Cubed. There is one explosive thing to take a look at. The new Sulfur Cube is a different kind of block that will change physics properties based on whatever materials it absorbs. Players can feed the cube themselves or the cube will absorb whatever's nearby. As one might imagine, Sulfur Cubes can be found in the new Sulfur Caves, which can be found across several existing biomes. Just don't dig too deep, otherwise you might hit a gas pocket filled with noxious fumes.
Minecraft's Tiny Takeover update will go live this Tuesday, March 24. There is no estimate on when Minecraft: Chaos Cubed will arrive, but expect more information between now and its release date reveal. Full details of Saturday's Minecraft LIVE: March 2026 showcase can be found on the Minecraft website. We'll continue watching for the latest in Minecraft, so keep it on Shacknews for any news on the next big updates.
