More than just a faithful friend.

Wandering around the world of Crimson Desert can be a little lonely sometimes, so if you think you might want a pet to act as a companion on your adventures, then you are in luck. There are a number of animals in the game that you can befriend and get them to become your pet, and they can be very useful.

When you find an animal like a cat or a dog in Crimson Desert and stand close to it, you can pet it. If you see a small meter starting to turn from white to green, you will eventually be able to make that animal a pet. To do so, you will need to fill up their trust meter, and you can do that in two ways.

First, pet the animal. This will earn you five Trust, and you can earn Trust for petting the same animal five times in one in-game day. You can also feed the animal. Cooked meat works the best, and will earn you additional Trust, but can only earn you Trust three times in the same in-game day.

It will take at least two in-game days to fully earn the trust of a companion, as you need to hit 100 Trust, but there is a natural limit in how much you can earn in a single day due to the limits on petting and feeding. So, visit a pet twice, fully rank the Trust as best you can, and you will then have them as a companion.

Pets are useful as they act like an autoloot system, which is especially useful when you are mining ore, as the need to pick up all the pieces is a real chore, but thankfully, your pet will now take on that role for you.
