What to do with the Depleted Mana Rune in Path of Exile 2
The Depleted Mana Rune is a massive endgame secret in Path of Exile 2. Here's what you do with it.
by John Schutt · ShacknewsIf you’ve reached endgame in Path of Exile 2, there’s a specific boss drop you might not know what to do with: the Depleted Mana Rune. The thing is as rare as it is expensive to use, but depending on your build, what it unlocks can easily become a best-in-slot option, or nearly so.
How to use the Depleted Mana Rune in Path of Exile 2
Using the Depleted Mana Rune is simple. After having it drop and speaking to Farrow, you activate the item by spending 10,000 Mana. The video below shows content creator Palsteron’s whole process for getting the item and reaching that milestone. Here are the quick steps:
- Acquire the Depleted Mana Rune by defeating Uhtred boss during the endgame Expedition mode
- Craft a build that has 10,000 Mana, then activate the rune to transform it
- Take the now Infused Mana Rune to Farrow to trade it for the Runeseeker's Call Runic Fork
- Profit?
Notice, however, that I didn’t say gaining the resources to use the Depleted Mana Rune was simple. As of writing, most players need to completely respec their Passive trees to max out their Mana. They’re also reworking their gear to overcome the 10,000 Mana casting cost.
Provided you can get your mana to exceed 10,000, you can then use the item from your inventory. It will transition from Depleted Mana Rune to Infused Mana Rune.
Return and speak with Farrow with the Infused Mana Rune in your inventory, and he’ll remark upon its change. After a brief conversation, he’ll hand over the Runeseeker’s Call Runic Fork.
The Fork is a special Ezomyte Wand that can have five or six slots, can be upgraded, and sells for a pretty penny on the market.
You also gain access to a spell called The Stars Answer, a Cold damage take on Walking Calamity, which causes massive rocks to fall from space for a long period of time. The space rocks deal decent damage, but the spell itself always costs 10,000 Mana to use.
The fact that Runeseeker’s Call increases the effect of Socketed Runes by 200% is one of the main draws. The Stars Answer is kind of another reason to have it — as much for the aesthetics as anything else.
