Xbox CCO Matt Booty recently sat down with Gamertag Radio for an interview. During that interview Booty spoke about why Xbox is shifting back to console exclusives, stating that the company wanted to give players a reason to own an Xbox. You can view the full interview at the embed below.

Booty explained Xbox going back to console exclusives saying, “[We] want people to have a reason to get onboard with Xbox. Want them to have a reason to buy an Xbox. Reason to be an Xbox fan.” He went on to explain that, “Our big multiplayer games, live service games, are going to continue to be multiplatform.”

Recently, Xbox has been sending more of its titles to the PlayStation, shifting away from console exclusives as it prioritized subscriptions to Game Pass. It looks like priorities are shifting again, however, with Booty talking about games like Gears of War: E-Day being a 2026 Xbox console exclusive, and Clockwork Revolution as a console exclusive in 2027. Boot went on to say that when Xbox announced a release date, they would also announce the platforms the game would be coming to. Anything that’s already been promised will be honored.
