Xreal opens pre-orders for Aura Android XR glasses today
After years in the oven, Xreal has released its Android XR glasses along with a handful of accessories.
by Ozzie Mejia · ShacknewsHardware developer Xreal has been putting together its extended reality glasses in conjunction with Google and Qualcomm for over a year, but the time for their arrival is finally here. On Wednesday, during Google's Android Developer Summit, Xreal officially released its Aura Android XR glasses across the United States, Canada, Japan, and South Korea.
Revealed in May 2025, Xreal Aura is the first set of glasses to run on Google's Android XR operating system. They're powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon line of processors and are compatible with a variety of Google Gemini AI functions. These glasses contain optical see-through lenses at 1200p resolution at 120Hz with a 70-degree field of view, a split-compute architecture, Bose sound, and a small form factor that comes in at just 95 grams. Wired Mirroring will allow Aura owners to plug into PCs or consoles and grant them a private spatial window.
These glasses can run mobile apps from Google Play, including ones specifically built for XR. Xreal notes that more than 150 made-for-XR experiences are available at launch, including a dedicated NBA app, NASCAR app, and games based on Fallout and cinematic breakout hit Project Hail Mary.
Since Xreal Aura will support games, the company wants to make it easy for owners to actually play. That's why Xreal has teamed up with third-party peripheral maker GameSir to create the Xreal game controller. This controller comes with the standard gamepad layout along with a dedicated Gemini key for AI assistance. A wireless portable keyboard is also in the works.
Pre-orders for the Xreal Aura Android XR glasses open up today, but they're going to cost a pretty penny. The 12GB + 256GB model will sell for $1,279 USD, while the 16GB + 512GB model will run for $1,499 USD. Early adopters can pay $1,099 and $1,299, respectively, if they order before December 2026. Shipping is expected to begin in mid-November. More information on the specs and pre-orders can be found over on the Xreal website.
