How the Pirate Shop works in Fortnite

If you were wondering how Fortnite plans to counter the release of certain huge games, this is it.

Fortnite is still one of the most popular games on the planet, and the new Treasure Hunters mini-season is pulling out all the stops to keep fans engaged and playing. The Pirate Shop is one of the biggest bonuses for players that we have ever seen in the game, so let's break it down.

To get access to the Pirate Shop, you will need to play games on the new Crossbone Isle map. On this map, you can randomly find special chests. They will be covered in some skull-and-bones graffiti, making them stand out, and if you open them, you can get some very rare loot.

The special pirate chests, just like all other chests, can spawn anywhere, so there isn't really an established farming tactic here outside of spending as much time as you can in the large POIs to be near as many potential spawns as possible.

If you are very lucky, you will get a Pirate Shop Token from the chest, which will then give you access to the Pirate Shop. This shop is just like the main shop, except everything in it is free, as long as the item usually costs V-Bucks. You'll know you have it because a big splash will appear on the screen, telling you you found Pirate Shop access.

This event lasts only for the Treasure Hunters mini-season, but the good news is that if you are in a squad, the whole squad gets access if one of you finds the Token.

You can relax and finish the rest of your match if you are lucky enough to find one of these rare items, as you need to activate the Token, which will then give you two weeks to use it.

To do so, go to the main Fortnite lobby screen and open the Item Shop. There will be an option called "Plunder the Shop," and then select Activate Now, which will be an option as long as you have found a Token.
