Concerns over security continues to plague artificial intelligence platforms.

As companies continue to forge headfirst into the new frontier of artificial intelligence, concerns about security remain. The latest news is that the Trump administration has requested OpenAI to release its latest GPT model to a smaller group of users.

On June 25, 2026, The Information reported that the Trump administration had asked OpenAI to “stagger the release” of GPT-5.6. To adhere to this request, those familiar with the situation have shared that the artificial intelligence company will approve access customer-by-customer during the preview period.

Recently, the White House released a set of stricter AI guidelines in an attempt to preempt state regulation. The Trump administration has, in the past, promised to withhold funding from states that attempt to regulate AI tech companies.

Concern over cybersecurity is just one of the problems facing artificial intelligence in recent years. On June 25, publishers of nearly 400 newspapers bandied together to sue Microsoft and OpenAI regarding copyright infringement.

As companies continue to advance AI technology, it seems that they will need to contend with governments placing various regulations and restrictions on access. Stay tuned to our AI topic for more news on the new technology.
