Grasshopper Manufacture separates from parent company NetEase Games
Suda51’s studio will move forward as an independent developer.
by Donovan Erskine · ShacknewsGrasshopper Manufacture, the game developer founded by Suda51, has announced its independence. The studio has officially split from NetEase Games and will move forward solo as it develops future projects.
Gematsu reported the news of Grasshopper Manufacture going independent. In a statement, the company stated that this move will help it achieve its goal to “deliver titles in an even wider variety of styles to video game lovers everywhere.”
The company goes on to say that it had an amicable split with NetEase Games, and may work with them again in the future. Grasshopper Manufacture was founded in 1998 and acquired by NetEase Games in 2021 from GungHo Online Entertainment.
Grasshopper Manufacture most recently released Romeo is a Dead Man. Head of Guides Sam Chandler scored it a 6/10 in his review, but praised the game’s narrative and boss battles.
