SK Hynix (SKHY) Q2 2026 earnings results miss revenue expectations despite 257% YoY increase
One of the big three memory companies has thrived in the current AI boom, but still failed to meet lofty analyst forecasts in its recent quarter.
by TJ Denzer · ShacknewsMemory component and chip manufacturer SK Hynix (SKHY) released its Q2 2026 earnings results this week, and reported a record quarter across multiple metrics. Unfortunately, a record quarter wasn’t enough to beat analyst expectations for the company.
SK Hynix posted its Q2 2026 earnings results on its investor relations website. The company’s revenue came out to 79.32 trillion won ($54.55 billion), which was 257% up year-over-year (YoY). That unfortunately wasn’t enough to beat out the 84 trillion won that was expected by analysts, who were hoping to see more from SK Hynix with the demand for AI technology and components continually rising.

SK Hynix is one of three companies (including Samsung and Micron) that produce the bulk of global memory components, RAM, DRAM, flash memory, and the like. In the AI boom, the demand for these components has skyrocketed, leaving SK Hynix in a highly advantageous position. Nonetheless, the expectations seem to have exceeded even SK Hynix’s capabilities. The company reached a trillion dollar valuation only two months ago and saw success in opening day trading in American markets soon after.
Despite this, concerns of adjusting AI strategies at other companies, possible overproduction of components as a result, and the failure to meet revenue forecasts surrounded the stock as it dipped from a high of $135.41 per share down to a low of $125.29 as of this time of writing.
With the company nonetheless reporting a record quarter and maintaining a firm grip on global memory components, stay tuned to the SK Hynix topic for more news and updates.
