The best LMGs in Battlefield 6, ranked
The LMGs in Battlefield 6 are a fantastic class of weapons, and the best of them compete with the heavy hitters of every other weapon type.
by John Schutt · ShacknewsIn a game as fast-paced as Battlefield 6, the chonky light machine gun (LMG) weapon class doesn’t immediately sound like the optimal choice. But the best LMGs in the game can and will compete with almost any other weapon in the game in all but the most extreme circumstances. We’re ranking them here today.
The best LMGs in Battlefield 6
Ranking the best LMGs in BF6 is a bit trickier than the SMGs, as all of them are good, but only a few are great. The eight we can use as of Season 1 each have their place and preferred role, so I’ll be ranking them based on their consistency at close to medium range and usability out to a longer range.
8. RPKM
The RPKM isn’t bad, per se, but it is, I think, the worst LMG on offer in BF6 for a few reasons. First is the default mag size of 40. Second is how inconsistent its hit detection feels. Third is how bouncy its recoil can be. Combine all three traits, and you have a weapon that’s usable but not particularly effective when placed against the other weapons in its class.
7. M123K
The M123K’s greatest sin is its longer time-to-kill at range. It’s not particularly bouncy and feels consistent, especially from the hip, thanks to its high fire rate. The fact that it can easily lose to other LMGs at ranges where the class usually excels is another mark against it, as are the movement speed and handling penalties you take when using it on any class but Support.
It’s a clunky gun, is what I’m getting at, but a fun one from time to time.
6. M/60
The only thing separating the M/60 from the two previous guns is its three-shot-kill potential. The Bad Company 2 M60 this gun is not. It’s bouncy as all hell, the damage dropoff is faster than it probably should be, and its slower fire rate does little to alleviate these issues. That I have to tap fire the thing out to 35 meters for a four-shot kill is a bit silly.
5. DRS-IAR
While the DRS-IAR is the closest thing the LMG class has to an AR, that blurred line works to its detriment. Its starting magazine size is the smallest in its class, its damage is fine, but nothing to write home about, and it’s consistent out to a fair distance. 30 rounds simply isn’t enough to produce the volume of fire the chonkier LMGs need to succeed. The snappy reload is nice, though.
4. KTS-100 MK8
The slight increase to the KTS-100 MK8’s recoil that came after the BF6 open beta nerfed the gun just enough to knock it down a couple pegs. The introduction of new guns didn’t help. It suffers from just enough bounce and just enough damage falloff that it feels like it’s shooting marshmallows at distance.
This gun is still really good once you master its recoil pattern and play to its strengths, but it loses out to the three other LMGs on this list all the same.
3. L110
Using the L110 is like using a slightly more powerful, slightly more consistent KTS-110. You can shoot more before needing to reload. It’s almost as easy to use at range but hits harder up close. It’s more forgiving from the hip. And those are just three traits that put it a bit ahead of the other LMGs so far. However, the L110 still lacks for sheer stopping power and ease of use.
2. M240L
The M240L is everything the M/60 wishes it was. Consistent three-shot kills. Easy to control recoil. And most importantly, good hit detection out to a fair distance. That it comes with a 50-round “magazine” (really just a belt of rounds coming out the side) by default is its only glaring flaw. Because it’s so deadly, however, you’re liable to clear whatever threats are in the area before needing to reload.
1. M250
The king of Battlefield 6 LMGs has to go to the M250. It’s easy to control out to absurd distances, comes with a suppressor and a quality scope by default, and has a fast, predictable time to kill regardless of the range you’re firing. Adding attachments to boost its stats further succeeds only in turning what is already the best LMG in the game into something altogether different. Not that it needs the help, but it’s a touch the weapon would appreciate.
