Meta VR Glasses offer virtual reality experiences in a sleek form factor

Weighing a mere 100 grams, the Meta VR Glasses offloads the computing power into a pocket-sized puck.

Virtual reality headsets have received another massive leap forward thanks to Meta. At Meta Connect, the company unveiled its Meta VR Glasses, a sleek pair of glasses that offer a VR experience while weighing the same a deck of cards.

The Meta VR Glasses were revealed on September 23, 2026 at Meta Connect. As the name suggests, these are sleek glasses that function as a virtual reality headset, without the cumbersome headset. Instead, these frames weigh a mere 100 grams, with the compute, battery, and storage housed in a tethered puck that slips easily into a pocket or clips to a bag.

Meta notes that the Meta VR Glasses are five times lighter than the Meta Quest 3 and yet they feature a 5K Infinite Display built on micro-OLED panels. The frames feature Dolby Atmos while the lenses utilize Dolby Vision.

While the headlining functionality mentions cinema-like quality, “courtside seats, and workspace,” Meta also notes that the VR glasses offer gaming. There will be more than 75 games at launch which can be played entirely using hand gestures. There’s also the ability to play more games with XBOX Cloud Gaming.

The glasses can project multiple screens and turn any surface into a keyboard and touchpad. They also feature full-color passthrough, making it easier to see what’s going on around you.

Meta wraps it up by introducing hologram technology for calls. The Meta VR Glasses use a photorealistic digital version of you that uses real-time expressions. User will see the person they are taking to projected in front of them, with spatial audio “placing their voice where they are.”
