How to get the Hyacinth Macaw pet in Crimson Desert
Caw.
by Aidan O'Brien · ShacknewsThere are dozens of pets to collect in Crimson Desert, but the recently added Hyacinth Macaw is definitely proving to be a popular option with players. The first thing you will need if you want to get the Hyacinth Macaw pet is the Sotdae of Bond, so make sure you have played through the relevant quest to get it.
How to get the Hyacinth Macaw pet in Crimson Desert
Like all the birds you can have as pets in Crimson Desert, the first step is to get some of the Hyacinth Macaw's favorite food. These are the Desert Melons that you can purchase from Grocers in the titular Crimson Desert region of the game, in towns such as Tashkalp. You will be able to buy these for 72 Copper each, and the Grocers you find will have five of them in stock, each in-game day.
You may need to visit a few different grocers to get enough, as you will likely need at least 10 of them to get the Hyacinth Macaw.
When you have them, it is time to make your way to the Giant's Yard Outpost Camp along the Red River in the south of the Redtree Forest. Here you will find plenty of enemies, but you should have no issues clearing them out by smashing all the watchtowers. When the entire area is cleared, it is time to begin luring in our avian target.
Go to the edge of the large gulley that runs along the eastern side of the output and set up your Sotdae of Bond by placing it on the ground. It's a good idea to keep track of where you get up, as you may need to try a few different spots to find success. I found a small outcropping with loose stones beside the easternmost tower, and that worked for me.
Place your Desert Melons in the Sotdae, and wait for your future feather friend to make an appearance. I would advise patience, as it can take a long time for the bird to arrive. You may need to try a spot, wait a while, then try another. Mine showed up when it was raining, but I suspect that isn't a requirement.
Your target may fly in, eat a bit, then leave, and you may need to revisit the area a couple of times to get them all the way to a full level of trust, so, once again, remain patient on your hunt. For more news and guides, make sure to check out our dedicated Crimson Desert page.
