007 First Light on Nintendo Switch 2 delayed until March 2027

Bond won't be sneaking onto Nintendo's platform any time soon.

007 First Light developer IO Interactive has announced that Bond’s latest adventure has been delayed on Nintendo Switch 2 until March 2027.

“We know many of you have been looking forward to experiencing Bond's reimagined origin story on Nintendo Switch 2, and we greatly appreciate your enthusiasm,” the developer wrote on its Twitter/X account. “To ensure we deliver the quality of experience players expect, we have made the decision to delay the release to March 2027, with the exact date to be communicated later. This additional time will go toward polishing the Nintendo Switch 2 performance of the game.”

This is the second delay the Nintendo Switch 2 version of 007 First Light has suffered. While the game originally had a day-and-date release planned alongside the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC versions, IO Interactive admitted in April—roughly a month and a half before the game’s launch—that the Switch 2 version needed more time and would release in summer 2026.

Unless something goes catastrophically wrong with the Switch 2 port, 007 First Light should be worth waiting for. Shacknews News Editor Donovan Erskine awarded the game a 9 out of 10 in his review, calling it “a crowning achievement for IO Interactive and the culmination of the studio’s growth over the years.” It became IO Interactive’s fastest-selling game ever back in May, when the studio announced it had sold 1.5 million units in a single day.
