How to solve the puzzle at the Deepfog Basin Everfrost Ruins in Crimson Desert
by Aidan O'Brien · ShacknewsLike many of the puzzles in Crimson Desert, the Deepfog Basin Everfrost Ruins can be a little confusing when you first arrive. A number of large pillars all rise to different heights, and a central column will have some compass points, but no real clue about what you need to do. The good news is that it is simple once you have one very important secret figured out.

How to solve the puzzle at the Deepfog Basin Everfrost Ruins in Crimson Desert
The aim of this puzzle is to move all the pillars so that they reach the same height. To do this, we stab our sword into the short, central column and then turn it either left or right to lower or raise it. Where it gets complicated is that the four different points on the column (front, back, left, right) that you can stab your sword in will all move multiple different pillars.
The aim of the game is to figure out which of the points you need to stab, and how much you need to move them. The important thing to do is note that it can be hard to track the slots you need to stab as you move the short column around, so the best thing to do is check the pillars after you stab them. The ones that the slot you have stabbed moves will have a ghostly white glow to them, allowing you to know what will move before you actually start.
Now, if we assume that the slot directly across from the pillars is A, and that the pillars are numbered 1 through 5 from left to right, then the slots move the following pillars.
- A - Controls the second and fourth pillars.
- B (right) - controls the second and the fifth pillar.
- C (the rear) - controls the third, fourth, and fifth pillars.
- D (the left) - controls the second, third, and fourth pillars.
Now you just need to make the following moves, but keep in mind that this is somewhat delicate, so go slow. Watch the pillars, and you will notice small blocks of two, stacked to fill what would otherwise be a full "step". We want to move in distances equal to one of those smaller blocks.
- Use B to move 2 and 5 a half step.
- Use C to move 3, 4, and 5 a half step.
- Use D to move 2, 3, and 4 a half step.
And that is it, the puzzle will be solved, and you can grab your Abyss Cresset. For more news and guides, make sure to check out our dedicated Crimson Desert page.
