How to get and equip a pickaxe in Crimson Desert

Crimson Desert is something of a sprawling beast when you first start playing it. There is a lot to do, and the game is pretty relaxed about how it introduces you to activities, resources, and items. You might hear several characters mention mining before you figure out where to get a pickaxe. In this guide, I'll be aiming to save you some time.

How to get and equip a pickaxe in Crimson Desert

You can get a pickaxe by speaking to a rather large shopkeeper called Rhett in the City of Hernand. Hernand is the first city you will reach after finishing the tutorial and intro mission. Stand near Rhett and press the left shoulder button on the controller (or CTRL on your keyboard) to focus on him, then press the prompted button to hear his request.

Rhett will tell you that he needs some ores and ask you to get them for him. He will also give you a pickaxe, which will go straight to your inventory. Open your main menu, go to the inventory, highlight the pickaxe, and then hit A on the controller or the spacebar on your keyboard to equip it. After that, holding F2 on the keyboard or left on the D-pad will bring up your quickswap menu for gear, and you can quickly switch to the pickaxe when you need it.
