by COLlive Editor · COLliveOn Simchas Torah 5713, at a farbrengen in 770, the Rebbe spoke about the Frierdiker Rebbe’s practice of publishing sichos and letters in Yiddish, allowing women and girls to learn them and draw strength in their avodas Hashem.
The Rebbe then called for something new: an organization of Chabad women and girls. N’shei U’Bnos Chabad.
The Rebbe’s words were clear: belonging to the organization would strengthen every woman. Each would draw on the strength of the whole, bringing added chayus into her own learning, her chinuch, and her avodas Hashem.
The Rebbe wanted this to begin right away. By Shabbos Bereishis, just days later, the organization was to be established.
The learning of women. Their strength. What they could accomplish together. The Rebbe gave these a place and a name: N’shei Chabad.
As N’shei Chabad enters its 75th year, we return to that Simchas Torah. To the Rebbe’s words, and to the women he was speaking about.
To us.
The next chapter is coming.
