“A Real Yasher Koach”
Throughout the years, the Rebbe attached special significance to this zechus.
In a sicha on Chai Elul 5737, the Rebbe spoke of the tremendous nachas ruach generated by those who care for the physical needs of the guests, removing the concern of “Im ein kemach, ein Torah” — “If there is no sustenance, there is no Torah.”
The Rebbe expressed “a real Yasher Koach” to those who ensure that the guests have menuchas hanefesh and menuchas haguf, arranging their Eshel — food, drink and lodging — pleasantly, peacefully and with dignity.
In 5747, as the Tishrei guests began arriving, the Rebbe called for Hachnosas Orchim to be carried out “in the absolutely fullest sense,” and then added: “And I will begin,” giving physical food from the farbrengen in connection with the opening of Hachnosas Orchim.
Today, when you watch thousands of portions leaving the kitchen and see the enormous tent where the guests sit down to eat, those words become strikingly tangible.
