Over 500 people came to celebrate Lag Ba’omer at the Bris Avrohom Center in Hillside in honor of the great sage, Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai. The event was a beautiful display of unity between the Hillside, Elizabeth and neighboring communities, with Adath Israel joining with Bris Avrohom. A large bonfire was lit, a longstanding tradition of Lag Ba’omer.

Rabbi Avremy and Chaya Kanelsky organized the exciting event. The children enjoyed a petting zoo, pony rides, archery, roasting marshmallows, carnival booths and games with the mivtzaim of the Rebbe and other outdoor activities.

The participants all enjoyed popcorn, cotton candy and a BBQ dinner. The event concluded with the children reciting the 12 pesukim and jovial dancing around the bonfire.

At Cheder Yaldei Menachem, under the auspices of Bris Avrohom in New Jersey, an exciting Lag BaOmer parade was held as the children marched proudly from the Bris Avrohom Shul to the home of Rabbi Mordechai and Rebbetzin Shterney Kanelsky.

Along the way, the children held colorful flags proclaiming the mitzvos they proudly identify with, filling the streets with joy and enthusiasm.

Upon arriving at the Kanelsky residence, the children were greeted with a festive celebration. An inflatable bounce house awaited them, along with a delicious lunch prepared in their honor. Rebbetzin Kanelsky gave each child a coin for tzedakah, which they placed into the pushka. Mrs. Fruma Rosenberg, the pre-school director, shared with the children inspiring stories of Reb Shimon Bar Yochai. It was a truly festive and joyous day for the children.

A warm and uplifting community bonfire was held at the home of Levi and Rivki Kumer as a seudas hoda’ah, celebrating the miracle that occurred with their son a few years ago.

The bonfire was kindled by Rabbi Mordechai Kanelsky together with Levi Kumer. Kumer’s son, Yosef — the one who merited the miracle — addressed the large crowd with an emotional and heartfelt speech, moving all those who attended.

Bris Avrohom also welcomed over 150 girls from Bnos Menachem for a joyful Lag Ba’omer event. Rabbi Avremy Kanelsky spoke to the group, offering insights from the Rebbe about the holiness and meaning of Lag Ba’omer. The girls enjoyed an uplifting and engaging evening.
