Over 150 Bochurim Immerse in Tishrei at the Ohel
More than 150 bochurim from Eretz Yisroel are taking part in an expanded Hachnosas Orchim program near the Rebbe’s Ohel, with accommodations, daily meals, organized sedarim, shiurim, farbrengens and a special Torah learning initiative.
by COLlive Editor · COLliveMore than 150 bochurim from Eretz Yisroel are participating this Tishrei in the Hachnosas Orchim program at the Rebbe’s Ohel, which this year has been significantly expanded to provide a full framework for their physical and spiritual needs.
Now in its fifth year, the program provides organized, subsidized accommodations near the Ohel, along with three full meals each day at “Ohel Avraham,” a dining room established especially for the guests. The dining room is named in memory of Rabbi Avraham Yitzchak ben R’ Nosson, father of philanthropist R’ Eliyahu Schlossberg, a patron of the Hachnosas Orchim program.
The program also provides a comprehensive spiritual framework, with organized sedarim, specially selected areas of study, shiurim and farbrengens.
A highlight of this year’s program is Rabbi Shlomo Koenig, a Maggid Shiur at the Yeshiva in Kfar Chabad, who was brought in especially to accompany the bochurim throughout their learning. Organizers say his dedication has already resulted in increased diligence and consistency among the participants, in accordance with the Rebbe’s wishes for the conduct of bochurim during Tishrei.
During the days of Selichos, a special “Bruchim Habaim” gathering was held at Ohel Avraham. Rabbi Koenig addressed the bochurim, expressing his admiration for the success of the program and encouraging them to take advantage of the unique opportunity of being in the Rebbe’s daled amos and to value every moment of their stay.
Organizers also announced a special Torah learning initiative that will accompany the program. Bochurim who successfully complete tests on the material will receive stipends to help offset the cost of their flights and stay.
On the fifth night of Selichos, a special welcome farbrengen was held with Rabbi Shlomo Zarchi of the Yeshiva at 770, who came especially to farbreng with the bochurim.
For several hours, Rabbi Zarchi spoke about the importance of valuing and utilizing every moment, emphasizing that spending the month of Tishrei in the Rebbe’s daled amos is an experience that can have an impact for a lifetime.
“Zechor Yemos Olam,” he said, encouraging the bochurim to treasure these everlasting days.
The first shiur by Rabbi Koenig was already held during Selichos, offering the bochurim an in-depth overview of the special topic he selected for study: the concept of chinuch for a minor as explained in the Rebbe’s Torah.
On Motzei Tzom Gedaliah, a large farbrengen was held with Rabbi Koenig, who farbrenged energetically with the bochurim for several hours.
He spoke about strengthening the light and warmth of hiskashrus to the Rebbe in a manner of “im kebanim” — as children — and not only “im ka’avadim” — as servants. He urged the bochurim to be soldiers of the Rebbe with both mind and heart, combining Torah and avodah with hiskashrus and hafatzah.
During the Aseres Yemei Teshuvah, the days of “Behiyoso Karov,” an additional shiur was delivered by Rabbi Koenig, as well as a shiur in Chassidus by R’ Hillel Guetta.
Visitors entering the fourth tent at the Ohel during these days are greeted by the sight of more than 150 bochurim immersed in Torah study with diligence and enthusiasm, alongside their davening and farbrengens.
The program continues with the hope and anticipation that already during these days we will merit to see the Rebbe, Melech b’Yofyo, and proceed together with him to the true and complete Geulah.
