The atmosphere was one of pride, gratitude, and excitement as the community gathered to celebrate the conclusion of a remarkable inaugural year at Atlanta’s Chaya Mushka High School.

The morning opened with inspiring remarks from Rabbi Yossi New, Head Shliach of Georgia, who spoke about the power of unity and cohesion. He highlighted how the school’s pioneering first class exemplified inclusion, friendship, and mutual support, creating a strong foundation for future students.

Representing the inaugural class, Sophie Mason delivered a heartfelt address reflecting on the unique experience of helping build a brand-new school from the ground up. Drawing on a well-known story of a student encouraged by the Rebbe to view herself not as a “guinea pig” but as a “pioneer,” Sophie compared the school’s first eight students to trailblazers forging a path for those who will follow.

As she beautifully expressed, “Because pioneers don’t just go first. They make it easier and better for everyone who follows.”

Morah Shelley Feinblum, the High School Principal, expressed heartfelt appreciation to all those who contributed to the school’s successful launch. She thanked the administration, particularly Rabbi Isser New, Dean of the school, and Mrs. Leah Sollish, Principal of the Elementary and Middle School.

She also recognized Dr. Pam Mason, the school’s psychologist, for her invaluable guidance and support. Morah Feinblum highlighted how the partnership among faculty, staff, and parents made the year possible.

Special recognition was given to Mrs. Mushka Kesselman, the class mechaneches, who played a central role in guiding and supporting the students throughout the year. Appreciation was also extended to the devoted dorm counselors, Devorah Leah Wineberg and Laya Berendt, who not only cared for the students but also organized and led the school’s vibrant programming. Mrs. Shternie Lew was recognized for providing care, warmth, and meals for the dorm girls.

A video presentation showcased many of the year’s highlights, capturing the warmth, growth, fun, and meaningful experiences that defined this historic first year. The presentation reflected a school environment where Chassidic values, academic excellence, personal development, and genuine camaraderie flourished together.

As the school looks ahead to its second year, excitement continues to build. Applications are now being accepted for grades 9, 10, and 11 for the coming academic year. Building on the solid foundation established by its pioneering first class, the school is poised for continued growth and success.

The morning served not only as a celebration of what has been accomplished, but also as a reminder that every great institution begins with vision, courage, and a group of dedicated pioneers willing to take the first step. With a successful first year behind them and a bright future ahead, the school is well positioned to continue inspiring and nurturing the next generation of Jewish young women.
