by COLlive Editor · COLliveJust days before Shavuos, and during the week of Parshas Naso, the Torah portion that discusses the Mishkan, students of Bais Rivkah High School experienced a remarkable opportunity, a rare visit from the stunning Golden Ark replica.
This marked the second time Bais Rivkah hosted the famous replica of the Aron. The first visit was dedicated to the elementary school division. This exhibition was designed for the high school’s approximately 700 students, including many daughters of shluchim from communities around the world. The Golden Ark remained at the school throughout the entire day, allowing students to closely explore the beauty and dimensions of the Aron up close.
The replica, plated in pure gold, was created as a passion project led and funded by longtime Bais Rivkah supporter Lewis Topper. Built over three-and-a-half years by a team of seventeen volunteers from several countries, the Aron was crafted using donated gold and nearly three tons of Egyptian acacia wood.
The timing of this experience was a visible display of Hashgachah Pratis, occurring specifically in the days leading up to Shavuos, the Yom Tov of Matan Torah, and during the reading of Parshas Naso, which describes the Mishkan and the sacred responsibility of transporting the Aron.
Special care and reverence accompanied the event. In keeping with the holiness associated with the Aron, only Leviim were permitted to transport and handle the replica. Mordy Werde and Moshe Leeds, both Leviim, carefully brought the Aron to the school for the program.
Rabbi Moshe Pinson and Yossi Kahana, who lead the Development Office of Bais Rivkah, expressed heartfelt appreciation to Lewis Topper for making this extraordinary educational experience possible and for his ongoing friendship and support of Beth Rivkah.
Mrs. Miriam Heber, principal of Bais Rivkah High School, said the experience left a deep impact on the students. “Seeing the Aron in such a real and tangible way gave our students a powerful connection to the Mishkan, Torah, and their Jewish identity,” she shared. “Especially during the days leading up to Shavuos and while learning Parshas Naso, this became an unforgettable educational moment that brought Torah to life for our students.”
“Many of our students are daughters of shluchim from communities around the world,” she added. “Experiences like this help inspire the next generation of Jewish women leaders, educators, and shluchos who will continue strengthening Jewish life globally.”
Topper also shared his admiration for Bais Rivkah and its mission, praising the school’s educators and principals for their dedication to raising the next generation of Jewish women leaders, educators, and shluchos worldwide.
By fostering both academic and spiritual growth, we are successfully cultivating the next generation of Jewish leaders, educators, and shluchos who will go on to make a profound impact across the globe.
