“I Forgot My Chayenu” Is No Longer a Valid Excuse
The revamped Chayenu app brings nearly all the content of the print edition to your phone, along with content exclusive to the app.
by COLlive Editor · COLliveWinter vacation. 5787. You reach into your tallis bag, expecting to feel the familiar magazine paper beneath your fingers, reassuring you that your Chayenu is safely tucked inside. But your hand comes up empty. With creeping dread, you realize that in your rush to fulfill your child’s request for a mid-winter trip, you left your Chayenu behind.
Sound like something that could happen to you?
No need to worry. The all-new Chayenu app has you covered (see all of the exciting new additions here: Chayenu.org/5787).
The app includes every section of Chitas, the three-chapter and one-chapter Rambam cycles, Sefer Hamitzvos, Hayom Yom, Geulah, Daily Wisdom, Parsha Snapshot, Rashi in Depth, Name of the Parsha, Weekly Wisdom, Halacha, Kesser Shem Tov, Rebbe Responsa, Chassidic Story, Gate of Trust and more, all free and accessible to everyone. A small number of additional columns are reserved for Chayenu subscribers.
This means your daily learning can continue even when you do not have your print Chayenu at hand.
“The mission statement of Chayenu is not to sell a product. It is to promote a set study schedule and a daily connection to Torah,” says Chayenu Executive Director Rabbi Yossi Pels. “The app offers another way to tap into that connection, so naturally, we want to make it as good as it can be.”
Designed for maximum user-friendliness, the app offers intuitive navigation, enhanced viewing modes and a range of customizable settings. Regular updates continue to add new features and make the reading experience even smoother.
The app is not only for those who left their Chayenu behind. It also includes content unavailable in the print edition, giving even those who faithfully carry their Chayenu wherever they go a reason to use it. App-exclusive offerings include the full Steinsaltz Talmud, Gate of Trust and more. It also includes two new offerings for the new year.
Chumash Notes: Understanding Chumash and Rashi in depth often requires familiarity with Rashi’s sources, distinctive language and the apparent contradictions between different comments. These can present a challenge to the novice student.
Rabbi Binyomin Moore’s commentary, long published in the print edition of Chayenu, addresses many of these questions and provides valuable context and explanation. These notes will now be available on the Chayenu app, allowing users to gain a richer understanding of the Chumash and Rashi they are studying directly from their phones.
Special thanks go to Rabbi Moore and Feldheim Publishers for allowing Chayenu to share these invaluable notes.
Rambam Notes: The Moznaim English edition of the Rambam’s Mishneh Torah, translated and elucidated by Rabbi Eliyahu Touger, is filled with thousands of extensive notes and commentary. It addresses textual questions, identifies the Rambam’s sources, explores differing opinions and commentary on the final halachic ruling. These notes offer English-speaking learners unparalleled access to the depth of the Rambam’s work.
In a major partnership with Chabad.org, we have successfully digitized and mapped these extensive commentary notes that were previously unavailable in digital format and are now available on the all new Chayenu App.
The notes are shared with permission from Moznaim Publishers.
So whether you find yourself stranded without your Chayenu in Florida, Timbuktu or on the subway, have a spare minute in the doctor’s office, want to explore the app-exclusive content or simply want to turn your phone into a vehicle for holiness, download the Chayenu app today. And, of course, use it.
