by COLlive Editor · COLliveA moving Torah dedication ceremony took place in Mykonos at Chabad, hosted by the local Shliach, Rabbi Uziel Moshe Friedland. The Torah was donated by the Dray family in memory of their late father.
The event was held at a luxurious hotel near Chabad and began with Mincha prayers and the sounding of the shofar in the courtyard, followed by a cocktail reception and a traditional L’chaim. The guests then gathered for the completion of the Torah scroll, accompanied by words of Torah, inspiration, and a lavish meal.
Rabbi and Torah scribe Elad Cohen arrived especially from Israel to take part in the ceremony. He played an important role in the writing of the Torah and came to complete its final letters. The evening concluded with singing and dancing to a DJ who had also arrived especially from Israel, creating an atmosphere of genuine joy and celebration of a mitzvah.
The ceremony took place as part of the growing Jewish activity throughout Greece, under the direction of Rabbi Menachem Mendel Hendel, the Head Shliach to Greece.
This is the second Torah scroll to enter Chabad Mykonos since its opening — a meaningful milestone reflecting the continued growth of Jewish life and community activity on the island.
