by COLlive Editor · COLliveHundreds of Chassidim, yeshiva students, and friends of Chabad spent an uplifting Shabbos at the central Chabad House and synagogue in Almaty, Kazakhstan, just a short walk from the resting place of Harav Levi Yitzchak Schneerson, the Rebbe’s father.
Most of the guests traveled from the United States, with others arriving from Eretz Yisroel and across Europe ahead of Chof Menachem Av, the yahrtzeit of Harav Levi Yitzchak.
Throughout Shabbos, the participants joined farbrengens led by Kazakhstan’s Chief Rabbi and Head Shliach, Rabbi Yeshaya Cohen, together with visiting mashpi’im, who inspired the crowd with words of Torah and Chassidus.
Preparations are now underway for the arrival of hundreds more guests expected on Sunday and Monday. The local Chabad institutions are ready to assist the influx of visitors with all of their needs.
