by COLlive Editor · COLliveNow in its eighth year, Mivtza Hanachos 5786, run by Vaad Talmidei Hatmimim, will officially launch next week, continuing its rapid growth as a cornerstone Mesivta program across the globe.
Hundreds of bochurim worldwide are once again preparing for Gimmel Tammuz not just by watching Farbrengens – but by understanding them.
What began as a focused initiative has evolved into a full-scale, structured Mivtza impacting bochurim in yeshivos worldwide. Year after year, participation has climbed, with more Mesivtas joining and more bochurim committing to the five-week program leading up to Gimmel Tammuz.
The formula is clear – and it’s working.
Participants watch 10 curated Farbrengen videos of the Rebbe, delivered at a pace of two per week, with gradually increasing length. Bochurim then write their own hanachos—internalizing and summarizing the Farbrengen in their own words—submitted and graded weekly.
Two structured tracks allow for growth at every level:
Level 1: 5–25 minute Farbrengens (70 average required)
Level 2: 10–35 minute Farbrengens (80 average required)
All submissions are tracked digitally, ensuring consistency, accountability, and real progress over the course of the program.
The impact is tangible.
“The fact that I can watch a Farbrengen of the Rebbe for an extended amount of time is thanks to me doing Hanachos when I was in Mesivta,” shared a past participant. It’s a sentiment echoed by many who credit the Mivtza with transforming what once felt inaccessible into something engaging and meaningful.
Major Expansion and New Features for 5786
This year, the Mivtza is reaching new heights.
After repeated requests, the program is officially expanding to Zal bochurim, with a newly adapted track and refreshed structure, bringing the Mivtza beyond Mesivta and into the next stage of learning.
In addition, a new bochur-driven voting system has been introduced, allowing participants to vote on the best hanacha each week. Weekly winners will be featured, with a grand winner selected at the conclusion—adding a new level of energy, competition, and recognition.
Organizers note that these upgrades reflect the growing demand from the field, and the Mivtza’s evolution into a broader movement.
Structured Preparation for Gimmel Tammuz
More than just a program, Mivtza Hanachos has become a standard lead-up to Gimmel Tammuz in many yeshivos, giving bochurim a clear, practical way to strengthen their hiskashrus to the Rebbe.
Participants who complete the program receive $50 (Level 1) or $100 (Level 2) in Kehos credit, while top performers earn a full set of Sichos Kodesh or equivalent value.
The Mivtza will culminate in a global Gimmel Tammuz event, where a final Farbrengen will be shown, prizes distributed, and top winners announced.
Yeshivos interested in joining the Mivtza or bringing the program to their bochurim can reach out to Hanachos@vaadhatmimim.org for more information.
Bochurim sign up by texting (929) 813-3774 or through their Shluchim.
Special thanks to JEM for videos of the Rebbe.
