Beis Hora’ah AskTheRav, under the auspices of the Crown Heights Beis Din, has now officially answered over 50,000 questions in Halacha submitted on the website alone.

Shailah #50,000 illustrates how unexpected situations can give rise to complex halachic questions. It was submitted by a person in Israel who was in the middle of reciting Shema when a siren sounded, forcing him to rush immediately to a nearby shelter.

Upon arriving, he found the shelter in a dirty state. Since he needed to remain there for the amount of time it takes to recite the entire Shema, the conditions of the shelter further complicated the halachic considerations.

The milestone was celebrated on Thursday together with some of the Crown Heights-based staff who are involved in assisting with the website and the hotline.

Rabbi Yosef Braun, member of the Crown Heights Beis Din, who personally reviews every answer before being sent, thanked the staff for their tireless efforts.

“This is a major milestone,” he said. “Without your involvement, this would have never happened. You are the ones who are the backbone of our community, as well as communities and shluchim worldwide in all areas of practical halacha.”

He also mentioned the work of all the overseas rabbonim who assist regularly. The 50,000 questions don’t include the thousands more answered via their phone hotline, making AskTheRav a trusted source of halachic guidance for countless people worldwide.

The celebration was further enhanced as it coincided with the birth of a baby boy to one of our dedicated staff members, Rabbi Berel Lew – a beautiful and timely simcha shared by the AskTheRav family.

On top of that, the website has undergone major improvements and continues to be updated to enhance user experience:

• A fresh, intuitive layout for easier navigation
• A brand-new search engine, helping users find answers faster
• More and more questions and answers continuously uploaded daily
• An organized, searchable database for all your Halachic inquiries
• Holiday special homepages, like asktherav.com/pesach, offering targeted guidance for Pesach and other Yomim Tovim

Additionally, the AskTheRav app has been fully revamped and is now available again on both the App Store and Google Play, providing seamless access to AskTheRav on the go.

AskTheRav relies on the generosity of supporters to continue its mission. To help sustain and expand this vital resource, please consider donating or becoming a member at asktherav.com/donate
