Quick thinking owner saves car from being totaled in blaze at Jln Stampin

KUCHING (Nov 8): A vehicle owner’s quick thinking saved his vehicle from being engulfed in flames at Jalan Stampin here around midnight last night.

Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Sarawak said they received a call at 12.01am and personnel from Batu Lintang were deployed to the scene.

“Upon arrival at the scene, it was found that a fire had occurred in the interior of a Proton Wira car.

“The vehicle owner successfully extinguished the fire using tap water, with approximately 30 per cent of the car sustaining damage.

“No firefighting operation was required as the fire was fully extinguished,” said Bomba in a statement.

After confirming that the fire was completely out and the area was safe, firefighters then returned to their base.

No casualties were reported and the operation ended at 12.29am.
