KOTA KINABALU (Nov 28): MyDigital ID Sdn Bhd, Sabah Credit Corporation (SCC) and Ezytap Sdn Bhd have officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to revolutionise digital identity verification and make financial services more accessible in Sabah.

This collaboration is set to deliver a seamless, secure and efficient identity verification system, aligning with Sabah’s push towards digital transformation and economic growth.

The MoU focuses on integrating MyDigital ID’s cutting-edge digital identity system into SCC’s financial service applications, with Ezytap providing the technical expertise to facilitate this integration.

The collaboration aims to simplify how the people of Sabah access SCC’s services by reducing the need for physical documentation, improving boarding times, and enhancing user convenience. Beyond improving the user experience, the initiative will help reduce fraud risks and bolster trust in digital transactions.

MyDigital ID will provide the digital identity system at the heart of this collaboration, while Ezytap will ensure its seamless integration into SCC’s web and mobile platforms.

As the host of the integrated system, SCC will deliver these enhanced digital services to its users, making secure and convenient financial services a reality for Sabah locals.

The collaboration is expected to deliver both immediate and long-term benefits. In the short term, SCC users will experience a smoother, faster application process for credit financing, while the need for repetitive documentation will be significantly reduced.

In the long term, this integration will strengthen trust in digital financial services, expand access to financing, and promote financial inclusion across Sabah. It also supports the state’s broader digital transformation goals, paving the way for sustained economic growth.

For the Sabah State Government, this collaboration represents a step forward in improving service efficiency and digital governance while mitigating fraud risks.

For end-users, it offers a more convenient and secure way to access financial services, saving time and effort. Meanwhile, businesses will benefit from reduced administrative burdens, faster customer onboarding, and enhanced trust in their digital platforms.

The MoU will be in effect for one year, during which the parties will work together to meet key milestones.

By the end of this term, a definitive agreement is expected to solidify the commitments and ensure the long-term success of the collaboration.

Chief Executive Officer of MyDigital ID Sdn Bhd, Mohd Mirza Mohamed Noor said, “This collaboration is a pivotal step toward making Sabah a leader in digital transformation. By integrating MyDigital ID, we are creating a secure, user-friendly system that benefits individuals, businesses and government agencies alike.”

Chief Executive Officer of Sabah Credit Corporation, George Taitim Tulas, said, “As we look ahead to 2025, this collaboration lays the groundwork for our commitment to digital transformation and providing better services to the people of Sabah. Through this collaboration, we are making a significant move to enhance convenience and security for citizens, guaranteeing the protection of their personal data and financial transactions.

Since announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, MyDigital ID registration kiosks have been placed at selected NRD branches, National Information Dissemination Centre, and Tealive outlets throughout the country. To date, over 1.2 million users have now registered with MyDigital ID.

The implementation of MyDigital ID marks a pivotal step towards a more user-friendly and secure digital environment, aligned with the government’s vision of harnessing technology to empower its citizens.

MyDigital ID Sdn Bhd would also like to emphasise and assure Malaysians that MyDigital ID does not store any biometric data of its users.

It also does not collect, monitor or store personal data while ensuring users do not have more than one digital identity as safety measures.

MyDigital ID is extending an open invitation to private sector, businesses, developers, and app creators to explore the many benefits of integrating MyDigital ID into their platforms. By adopting this secure and scalable identity verification solution, organisations can enhance customer trust, streamline onboarding processes and reduce fraud risk.
