KUCHING (Nov 19): The Women Skills Training (WST) programme conducted throughout 2024 has successfully enabled 2,737 participants to generate an average monthly income of approximately RM2,500, said Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah.

The Minister of Women, Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development said as of October this year, 2,659 participants had managed to achieve a monthly income of up to RM2,499.

“Out of that number, 78 participants have successfully generated a monthly income of RM2,500 and above.

“This achievement has had a positive impact on efforts to strengthen the economic resilience of families, especially in facing the rising cost of living,” she said in her ministerial winding-up speech.

Adding on, she said a total of 185 WST course sessions were conducted as of October, involving 4,352 individuals from diverse backgrounds.

“Efforts to empower women’s capacities are continuing through the provision of opportunities to participate in short-term skills courses, including sewing, culinary, beauty, and spa and massage courses.

“The knowledge and skills gained have encouraged their involvement in economic activities and enabled them to generate their own income,” she said.
