KOTA KINABALU (Aug 31): A variety of programmes and activities have been lined up for the month-long Sabah Fest 2025 celebration.

State Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Datuk Seri Christina Liew said highlights include the Unity Fun Run and Walk on September 6, which will pass several iconic places of worship, and a mini carnival at Imago Shopping Mall on September 6–7 featuring cultural games and interactive activities.

Other activities include a grand extravaganza on September 27–28 at the Oceanus Boardwalk, showcasing vibrant cultural dances from across Sabah, as well as cultural performances at Gaya Street Sunday Market, Kota Kinabalu International Airport and Suria Sabah.

Sabah Fest 2025 will run for one month starting August 30, in conjunction with National Day, Sabah Day and Malaysia Day.

Liew said it is fitting that the celebration takes place during this period, as August and September are special months for Sabahans, filled with patriotic events.

“With the theme ‘Unity in Diversity: Culture Unites Us,’ the festival will highlight our arts, traditions and performances, reminding us that culture is the bond that ties us all together.

“Sabah Fest is more than just a festival. It is about preserving our heritage, empowering our communities and inviting the world to experience the unique spirit of Sabah,” she said during the Sabah Fest 2025 launching ceremony at Gaya Street here last night.

The ceremony featured a showcase of Sabah’s rich culture from the five divisions — West Coast, Kudat, Sandakan, Tawau and the Interior — brought to life through music and dance.

Also present was Kota Kinabalu Mayor Dato Sri Sabin Samitah.
