KUCHING (Sept 21): The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) will continue its Program Jualan Rahmah Madani (PJRM) and Jejalah Karnival KPDN next year, following strong public support and positive feedback.

In expressing his gratitude for the overwhelming response, its minister Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali said as of today, the programme recorded over 17,000 visitors during its Sarawak leg in Matang.

He pointed out that PJRM, which offers savings of 10 to 30 per cent lower than market prices, have been well-received by the public.

“We have proposed for Budget 2025 to maintain or even increase the allocation for this programme.

“Also, we will implement PJRM in selected markets, focusing on areas with rising prices, strategic locations, and good transport access,” he told reporters when met after officiating the Jelajah Karnival KPDN 2024 programme in Matang here today.

The Sarawak leg of the Jelajah Karnival KPDN marked its fourth stop as part of a six-stop event, which previously visited Perlis, Kelantan, and Perak, with future stops in Sabah and Melaka.

Armizan said the tour’s main objective is to raise awareness on the ministry’s services and functions, so as to enhance the public’s understanding of its goals, while building trust between the state government and the people.

Held in connection with the 40th anniversary of the Buy Malaysian Goods Campaign, the event featured strategic collaboration with various government agencies, government-linked companies, non-governmental organisations, private sector entities, and stakeholders.

The event showcased a variety of services offered by the ministry, as well as engaging activities such as consumer advocacy sessions, enforcement advocacy, and initiatives under the Payung Rahmah umbrella, including PJRM, Menu Rahmah Madani, and the Malaysian Goods Logo advocacy programme.

Among those present were Stampin MP Chong Chieng Jen and Pending assemblywoman Violet Yong.
