Miri MP conducts inspection on SMK Baru Miri
by Jenifer Laeng · Borneo Post OnlineMIRI (Nov 2): Miri MP Chiew Choon Man recently conducted an inspection on SMK Baru Miri to assess the various projects implemented using an RM100,000 allocation he approved a few months ago.
In a statement on Friday, Chiew said one of the main projects completed with part of the allocation was the upgrading of the school hall from an open area to an enclosed, air-conditioned space.
“This upgrade will provide comfort to students and teachers. The hall doors were also replaced with sliding doors to improve access and safety for the school.
“Additionally, new LED lights were installed in the hall to enhance lighting for official ceremonies, assemblies, and events held at the school,” he said.
Chiew also said that the funds were also used to purchase 70 new chairs for teachers in the staff room.
He added that a total of 320 chairs and 150 tables were also purchased for students and teachers to use.
“This aligns with the objective of creating a more comfortable, modern, yet conducive learning environment for the students and teachers,” he said.
Additionally, Chiew said that 52 laptops were provided to the school to support digital education.
He stressed his commitment to ensuring that all schools in Miri be given attention regarding facilities and infrastructure.
“This effort is part of my mission to strengthen the educational infrastructure within the Miri constituency, thereby contributing positively to academic development and the wellbeing of students and teachers,” he said.
