by Desiree David · Borneo Post OnlineKUCHING (Nov 7): The sewerage project in Tupong constituency is expected to reach 90 per cent completion by the end of this month.
According to Tupong assemblyman Datuk Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman, the completion deadline was established during a meeting and a site visit by relevant agencies, the project contractor and local residents today.
“We were briefed by the sewerage department and the consultant on the status of the project, its challenges and the way forward.
“From the project map, we have identified close to 90 per cent of the roads (affected by the sewerage project) will be completed by the end of November and will be resurfaced,” said Fazzrudin in a statement.
The sewerage project impacts roads throughout Kampung Pinang Jawa and Kampung Laruk Skim.
Fazzrudin informed that the meeting also encouraged the contractor to complete the sections of the road where the sewerage work is completed or near completion.
He also mentioned that certain stretches of the road remain under construction due to technical challenges encountered by the contractor.
“There are only two or three stretches that are still in the works and the contractor is doing their best to resolve the issues.
“Once the sewerage project is completed, resurfacing work will begin to enhance comfort and safety for both motorists and the public,” he said.
