SOP Foundation brings sight to communities with Vision Care Project in Niah
by Cindy Lai · Borneo Post OnlineMIRI (Dec 21): The Sarawak Oil Palms (SOP) Foundation successfully concluded the final round of its Vision Care Project for the year at Rumah Untol in Niah on Friday.
The programme, as part of SOP’s ongoing corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives, saw strong community engagement.
A total of 70 participants from Rumah Untol and Rumah Chrmi attended the vision screening and consultation session.
“The strong turnout demonstrates the community’s interest in maintaining good eye health,” said SOP in a statement.
As in previous sessions, the project was conducted in collaboration with Miri Specvision Optometry, which carried out the eye screenings.
The SOP Foundation fully sponsored prescription glasses for all those who required them.
Also present at the event were SOP’s senior assistant manager Boniface Anthony of Sungai Balim Estate and longhouse chief, Tuai Rumah Untol.
In his remarks, Tuai Rumah Untol thanked the SOP Foundation for the programme.
“Providing free vision screenings and glasses helps immensely in improving the quality of life for residents in need,” he said.
The SOP Foundation has announced that the Vision Care Project will continue to reach more communities in the coming years, expanding its accessible and inclusive eye health initiatives across the region.
