MIRI (Sept 27): The federal government, through the Madani Rakyat Sarawakku Sayang Programme, strives to ensure that every level of the community benefits from the various policies, says Miri MP Chiew Choon Man.

In view of this, he invites all members of the public here and the city’s surrounding areas to attend the three-day programme, now taking place at Boulevard Commercial Centre.

According to Chiew, the programme aims to introduce various initiatives and services offered by government agencies to the people, with more than 200 government services provided throughout the event.

“This is the best time for the government to get close to the people while also promoting the spirit of Malaysia Madani, which emphasises the values of inclusiveness, togetherness and well-being,” he told reporters when met at the programme’s opening day today.

Adding on, he regarded this programme as ‘an important step in helping those struggling with daily challenges and high living costs’.

Moreover, various government agencies including the uniformed bodies had set up booths at the programme site, so as to enable the public to interact and understand their services.

“This is not only an opportunity for the people to get information from these government agencies and ministries, but also to strengthen the relationship between the government and the people.”

Chiew also expressed gratitude to the Madani Government under the leadership of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, whom he hailed as ‘being committed to ensuring that the people would always be prioritised’.

He said the policies introduced by the government clearly showed a leadership that cared about the needs of the people from all walks of life, especially those in the B40 (low-income) group and in the rural areas.

Meanwhile, on opening day today, visitors showed up as early as 8am to grab their hands at the essential items being offered at discounted prices, during the Madani Rahmah and Madani Agro sales.

The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) had also set up their counter at the venue for motorists to check their summonses and get special discounts when paying on the spot.

The programme features an impressive array of activities and exhibitions throughout the three days, including a Career Carnival as one of its outdoor activities.

Free shuttle bus services plying between Miri Indoor Stadium and Boulevard Commercial Centre are available for members of the public, running from 8am to midnight. Each bus arrives at the pick-up points every 20 to 30 minutes.

The programme is a collaboration between the Performance Surge Coordination Unit, the Prime Minister’s Office, Petra, and the Sarawak Government Secretary’s Office.

It aims to bring government services directly to the people as well as spread and promote new government policies and initiatives.

In addition, the programme is meant to improve the public understanding and awareness of the government’s direction and goals, as well as to build trust and confidence between the government and the people through periodic achievement reporting methods.

Anwar and Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg will jointly officiate at the programme today, at 2.30pm.
