SIBU (Jan 2): The Sibu MP Service Centre will be rolling out its first 2026 food subsidy programme tomorrow (Jan 3), providing 1,000 sets of subsidised essential food items to the public.

Sibu MP Oscar Ling said the programme will be held at the Orange Zone at Star Megamall, running from 9.30am to 12.30am.

Each subsidised food package comprises eight essential items, including 900g Milo, cooking oil, 10kg of white rice, a packet of rice vermicelli, instant noodles, biscuits, canned curry chicken and 30 eggs.

Ling said the original retail price of the package is RM82.05, but under the subsidy programme it will be sold at RM55, allowing buyers to enjoy savings of about 32 per cent.

“However, the offer is available on a first-come first-served basis and while stocks last,” he said in a statement.

Interested buyers are required to register and collect a queue number at the event counter at the Orange Zone from 9am on the day of the event.

They will then proceed to DAESCO Supermarket at Star Megamall to make the purchase using a shopping voucher.

Ling added that voucher holders who purchase RM20 or more worth of milk powder will be entitled to a RM5 rebate upon presentation of the receipt.

“The rebate is limited to once per person. All purchases under the subsidised food programme are on a cash-only basis,” he said.
