PUTRAJAYA (Nov 27): The Tourism, Arts and Culture Ministry (Motac) is strengthening the systems and processes of the Malaysia My Second Home (MM2H) programme to ensure its transparency, effectiveness and smoother operations.

Its minister Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing said Motac will continue to closely monitor the operations of MM2H operators to ensure all services remain transparent, efficient and fully comply with the programme’s requirements.

“I would like to remind all operators that any violations, including the imposition of unauthorised fees, will result in strict penalties, including the revocation of licenses,” he said.

In a statement after an engagement session with MM2H operators, Tiong said steps are being taken to simplify the monitoring process for MM2H applications.

A one-stop centre will be set up to handle inquiries, ensuring clearer communication and quicker resolutions for applicants.

“We will collaborate with state governments to standardise property purchase conditions to ensure adherence to Cabinet decisions and minimise confusion among applicants,” Tiong said, while stressing that consistency is key to streamlining the process.

Tiong said several proposed improvements are also under review, including extending the property purchase period and replacing fixed deposits with insurance guarantees.

These changes are designed to offer more flexibility to participants without compromising the integrity of the programme’s policies, he said.

He also acknowledged suggestions from MM2H operators to improve the programme, such as expanding language options for the driving license test, improving official document translation processes, and enhancing support for hiring domestic helpers.

“These suggestions will be carefully examined, considering all aspects to improve the MM2H programme,” Tiong said.

He said Motac remains committed to supporting all stakeholders involved in the MM2H programme and aims to promote the initiative professionally to attract quality participants, contributing positively to the nation’s economy. – Bernama
