DARO (Oct 24): Several telecommunication towers here are now operational, with the rest expected to begin operating towards the end of this year and in the first quarter of 2025.

In stating this, the Daro constituency on its official Facebook page said this project would improve telecommunication access and connectivity, especially to those in the rural areas.

“The towers in Darojaya 1, Darojaya 2 and Maujaya, under the Jendela initiative, have started their operation to provide telecommunications services to the residents around the area.

“The Sungai Semah and Kampung Sawai towers under the Smart initiative, meanwhile, are undergoing additional works and are expected to be completed in the first quarter and fourth quarter of this year.

“The tower in Nanga Lassa, another Smart initiative, is expected to be fully completed by the end of this year,” it said.

This, it added, is based on the data obtained from Sarawak Multimedia Authority Rural Telecommunication (Smart) as of Oct 10, and from the National Digital Network (Jendela) on Aug 31.

Several other telecommunication towers that are still under construction are in Kampung Parit Badong, Kampung Lemang Pek, and Kampung Muara Sawai.

“These three towers are expected to be completed by the fourth quarter of 2024. With this positive development, the entire telecommunications tower project is expected to be fully completed next year, and will bring great changes to the lives of the residents in Daro,” it said.
