KOTA SAMARAHAN (Nov 29): The Home Ministry’s (KDN) Kampung Angkat Madani programme has achieved a remarkable feat, with all 12 selected villages successfully utilising their RM1 million allocations without a single abandoned project.

Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail announced that the RM12 million initiative, implemented through its various agencies, has maintained a flawless track record in project delivery.

“There are 12 villages. One village receives RM1 million, so the total is RM12 million. All projects are completed.

“The one we visited today is already 80 per cent completed. The uniqueness of this programme is that there are no abandoned projects.

“Everything is completed by the agencies within the timeframe. That is the most important,” he told a press conference after officiating the handover ceremony for the Kampung Angkat Madani project at SK Dato Muhammad Musa in Kampung Sindang Baru here.

The event marked the final project to be completed under this year’s programme.

According to Saifuddin, the programme operated by having each of the 11 agencies under KDN select one village and implement projects based on direct discussions with local community leaders.

“Once a village is chosen, the agency engages directly with the village leadership, including mosque committees, community halls, village development and security committees (JKKK) and others, to determine priority needs,” he explained.

“For example, the Director-General of Immigration selected Kampung Rambong in Baling; the Director-General of Prisons picked Pantai Merdeka; the National Anti-Drugs Agency (AADK) Director-General chose Besut; and the National Registration Department (NRD) Director-General selected Kuala Terengganu.”

The Kampung Sindang Baru project, hosted by the Registrar of Societies (ROS), served as a prime example.

Its RM1 million allocation funded drainage upgrades, the renovation of a badminton court, improvements to funeral management facilities, mosque beautification, a central waste collection point, and a new village signboard.

Saifuddin highlighted that the Kampung Angkat Madani successfully combined efforts of multiple government bodies, including the Department of Irrigation and Drainage, the Public Works Department, the Implementation and Coordination Unit (ICU) of the Prime Minister’s Department, the Kota Samarahan Municipal Council, and the Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK).

He emphasised that every sen of the allocation was channelled directly into the listed projects, with community involvement being a cornerstone of the initiative’s success.

“We gathered villagers from more than 300 households, and when the community is closer to KDN, it becomes easier for them to deal with departments such as the Immigration, National Registration Department, and others,” he noted.
