626 residents in Tatau receive food aid via river delivery
by yunus yussop · Borneo Post OnlineTATAU (Jan 19): A total of 626 residents in cut-off areas around Kelebu/Kakus and Penyarai in the Tatau district received food assistance through a delivery operation carried out on Sunday.
The operation, which began at 8.30am, involved the delivery of aid to longhouses and public facilities affected by impassable land routes.
In the Kelebu/Kakus area, food aid was delivered to 209 residents across eight longhouses.
Meanwhile, in the Penyarai area, 417 residents received assistance, including those from eight longhouses, students and staff of SK Nanga Penyarai, as well as personnel at the Kakus Health Clinic.
The delivery was conducted using four boats via river routes, operated respectively by the Tatau Sebauh District Education Office, the Malaysian Civil Defence Force, the Royal Malaysia Police, and the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department.
A total of 25 personnel from various agencies were involved in the integrated operation.
Tatau District Office administrative officer and aid delivery coordinator, Raden Azamry Raden Perhan, expressed appreciation to all agencies involved for their commitment and cooperation, which ensured that food assistance was delivered safely and smoothly to the affected residents.
