KUCHING (Dec 30): Two luxury vehicles were impounded during ‘Ops Kenderaan Mewah (Luxury)’ conducted here on Monday.

The Sarawak Road Transport Department (JPJ) said in a post that both vehicles were found to have expired road tax and insurance.

“Among the vehicles acted against was a BMW X1, which was found to have had its road tax and insurance expired since Oct 29, 2025.

“In addition, a Lamborghini Urus was also impounded after it was found to have committed the same offence, with its road tax and insurance having expired on Apr 15 this year,” JPJ Sarawak said.

The operation was carried out by JPJ Kuching to ensure that all road users continue to comply with road traffic laws.

JPJ Sarawak said enforcement actions will continue to be intensified regardless of the type or category of vehicle, including luxury vehicles, to ensure road user safety and full compliance with existing legal provisions.

“In this regard, the public are advised to always ensure that their vehicle road tax and insurance coverage are valid before using the roads to avoid legal action,” it added.
