KUCHING (Aug 20): Haze and reduced visibility may persist in Sarawak throughout the week amid continued southerly winds and a high number of hotspots across Borneo, according to the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia).

In its Significant Weather Forecast today, MetMalaysia said the latest weather forecast models indicated that southerly winds were expected to continue throughout the week.

“The southerly winds, coupled with the continued high number of hotspots in Borneo, could potentially cause haze and low visibility, particularly in Sarawak and western Sabah, including Labuan,” it said.

MetMalaysia advised the public to refer to its official website and social media platforms for the latest weather updates.

The public was also encouraged to download the myCuaca application for up-to-date weather information.
