TVS holds a townhall session with Abang Johari to celebrate the ninth anniversary of his leadership.

KUCHING (Jan 12): A townhall session with Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg is airing by TVS on Jan 13 in conjunction with the ninth anniversary of his leadership.

TVS said the live programme aims to connect Sarawak’s development policies directly with the people, providing a platform for transparency, accountability and public engagement.

According to TVS, the session will reflect on Sarawak’s development journey under the Post Covid-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030, highlighting initiatives to ensure inclusive growth, resilience and opportunities that reach communities across the state.

Key focus areas include clean energy development, digital transformation and human capital initiatives, including job creation in emerging industries and preparations towards free tertiary education at state-owned institutions beginning in 2026.

The discussion will be moderated by senior broadcast journalist Tehmina Kaoosji and content advocate Sayed Munawar Sayed Mustar, both known for guiding policy discussions towards practical outcomes and people-centric concerns.

The townhall session will be aired from 7.30 pm on the TVS Inspire application as well as TVS Facebook, YouTube and TikTok, followed by a television broadcast at 8.30 pm on TVS Channel 122 MYTV, Unifi TV and Astro.

Abang Johari assumed as chief minister on Jan 13, 2017 following the passing of late Pehin Sri Adenan Satem.

The post was formally renamed as premier in 2022, reflecting Sarawak’s status as an equal partner in Malaysia.
