by Samuel Aubrey · Borneo Post OnlineKUCHING (March 19): The spirit of unity, harmony and mutual understanding among communities remains a crucial foundation for Sarawak’s continued progress and prosperity, said Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan.
In his Hari Raya Aidilfitri message, he said such values are especially essential in a diverse society like Sarawak, which comprises various races, religions and cultures.
“With the spirit of unity and togetherness, we are able to contribute collectively to the progress and well-being of our beloved Sarawak,” Awang Tengah added.
He also noted that Hari Raya Aidilfitri, which marks the end of Ramadan, is not only a celebration for Muslims after a month of fasting, but also a meaningful occasion to strengthen relationships and foster goodwill among all communities.
“Beyond the festivities, it is a time to express gratitude, reinforce bonds and seek forgiveness, while embracing the values of compassion and understanding,” he said.
Awang Tengah called on the public to use the festive occasion to further promote unity and togetherness across all segments of society, regardless of background.
“In Sarawak, we live in a diverse society made up of various races, religions and cultures.
“This uniqueness is a strength that we must preserve together,” he said.
Awang Tengah also extended his Hari Raya greetings to Muslims, particularly those in Sarawak, expressing hope that the celebration would bring joy, peace and blessings to all.
