Bumiputera organisations extend festive aid to 200 Chinese families
by Cindy Lai · Borneo Post OnlineMIRI (Feb 16): Persatuan Kebajikan Transformasi Sukarelawan Miri, Persatuan Belia Miri and Persatuan Maju Ke Hadapan Kuching have jointly organised an aid distribution programme benefitting 200 Chinese families ahead of the Chinese New Year celebration.
The programme was held at the Some Shak Lung Kung Temple here yesterday, where recipients received essential food items including rice, cooking oil, canned food, and other dry goods.
Miri deputy mayor Councillor Ariffin Mohamad, who was present to witness the distribution ceremony, expressed his appreciation for the cross-ethnic cooperation demonstrated by the three Bumiputera organising bodies.
“This programme clearly reflects the spirit of Sarawak’s people, who remain united regardless of race, religion or background,” he said.
“True unity is not merely a slogan, but is shown through actions of helping one another, especially in times of need.”
Ariffin added that caring initiatives that transcend cultural boundaries not only strengthen community unity, but should also be emulated to inspire the younger generation.
He reiterated that such efforts would further enhance inter-ethnic understanding and ensure that the spirit of sharing festive joy and compassion continues to thrive in Sarawak’s diverse society.
